We are excited to launch the Journal of African American History Discussion Club — a quarterly virtual gathering dedicated to exploring rich scholarship in African American history!
Founded by Dr. Carter G. Woodson in January 1916, the Journal of African American History remains the premier publication for historical research and thought related to the African American experience. Issues are released in March, June, September, and December.
Each quarter, one of our members will select an article from the latest issue and facilitate a Zoom discussion the following month.
Whether you are a scholar, student, or lifelong learner — this is a wonderful opportunity to engage, learn, and connect with community.
ASALH Manasota
Manasota ASALH branch is located in the Bradenton Sarasota area. ASALH mission is to promote, research, preserve, interpret and disseminate information about Black life history and culture. Branch meetings of Manasota ASALH, attended by members and friends of Sarasota and Bradenton areas, are opportunities to network and to plan for ASALH events. Each meeting begins with a Moment in History, a brief presentation about a key point in local, national, or historic African American History. These presentations enrich our knowledge base and help to deepen the connection between Manasota ASALH and the Manatee and Sarasota community.
